Having fun at the local park with Love Parks Week

Thursday, 31 July 2014

This week is 'Love Parks Week' which aims to raise awareness of the importance of parks and green spaces. There are events going on nationwide and today Little Miss A and I took advantage of one of the free events that are taking place in Aylesbury.

I chose today's event as it was held at Meadowcroft Park which is just down the road so we could walk there. When we arrived, everything was in full swing. We had a walk round to see what was on offer and then I let Little Miss A loose to choose what she wanted to do.

There were large games, arts and crafts, face painting, seed planting and archery. Many of these Little Miss A is still a bit young for but she liked the large games and spent a lot of time going on the plastic climbing frame.

The activities were set-up next to the park's playground so we did spend a bit of time on the swings and of course the slide!

There was also a bouncy castle (the only thing you had to pay for - £1 for 5 minutes). Little Miss A kept gravitating towards this so I treated her to a go just before we left. She really held her own on it with a load of much older kids!

I was surprised that it wasn't busier but then there have been events all week and there was another event going on in the centre of town.

There's enough variety of activities to keep the kids entertained for quite a while, particularly slightly older kids. Many people had come with their picnics so you could be there for the whole event (11am - 3pm).

Would definitely recommend this event as we spent a nice couple of hours in the sunshine and apart from the bouncy castle it was all free! Just what we like!

There are still a few days left of events in Aylesbury if you want to go along! Details on the Aylesbury Vale District Council website.
